Sales and Tendering Estimator (Several Positions Available)

Mammoet Canada Eastern Ltd. has an opening for a Sales & Tendering Estimator reporting to the Sales & Tendering Manager, this position is located in our Guelph, Ontario office. This role will be responsible for preparing and coordinating various types of estimates for projects in Canada and North East USA. The successful candidate will have an excellent technical background in heavy lift and transport, the ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a busy team-oriented office environment.

Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Maintaining Customer Relations Management (CRM) database and appropriate documentation to support cost and schedule
  • Prepare detailed proposals and budgets for projects in accordance with Mammoet standards and client requirements
  • Develop a strategic and competitive plan for each tender through a possible site visit and the supplied detailed scope of work
  • Seek to understand customer’s needs and looks for opportunities to expand business by offering other goods or services
  • Prepare various types of estimates and tender documents covering aspects such as labour rates, equipment rates, scheduling and impact of location to support estimate preparation and review
  • Maintain project information and keep up to date on status to secure bid results as soon as announced
  • Evaluate risk management on each project and ensure that the sales team is preparing the tender to minimize or eliminate that risk
  • Assist in sourcing new customers to expand business and increase sales
  • Appreciating and understanding client’s needs to provide quality service and earn additional business through proactive relationship building
  • Establishing good working relationships with engineering, operations, accounting and project management departments and clients
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Requirement for travel within Eastern Canada and North East USA

Education & Experience

  • College Diploma preferably in Engineering Technology, Business Commercial, Construction or Technical discipline
  • Minimum of three to five to three years in Sales or Marketing, Estimating, Project Management/Coordinating in relevant industry
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written English
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Strong computer skills required (Word, Excel); knowledge preferred
  • Tendering and development of proposals and bids

About our region

This is a full-time permanent position operating out of our Guelph Head Office. Periodic travel and site work will be required.
