Mammoet Canada West Ltd. is seeking a bright, motivated Assistant Controller to provide support to the finance department in our Edmonton office. The ideal candidate will work comfortably with numbers, have a working knowledge of accounting principles and experience with MS Excel.

Goals

Perform various tasks assigned by the Financial Controller that assist in accurate general accounting and timely completion of the month end close cycle, including producing reports and reconciliations. This individual will work in conjunction with the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments to ensure accurate and timely entry of data.

Main areas of support include:

  • Maintain Fixed Asset sub-ledger
  • Prepare various reports in excel
  • Review, reconcile and prepare journal entries to allocate expenses from source data
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts and prepare month-end accruals
  • Provide AR/AP sub-ledger support
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Tax related support including non-resident withholding tax

Reports to

The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Financial Controller for the Americas and will need to demonstrate the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced office environment.

Education & Experience

  • Enrolled in or recently completed an accounting designate program.
  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated previous experience in a related role
  • Knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office platform
  • Working knowledge of SAP is an asset.
